Annual Run for Courage 5K Event
The annual Run for Courage 5K race takes place each year on Saturday morning of homecoming weekend at Spring-Ford Area High School. Homecoming weekend events are usually held in the middle of October each year. This Run for Courage is the major fundraiser for the Conor McKenna Foundation. The Conor McKenna Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization created to raise money to fund a scholarship to be given to a student at Spring-Ford High School on a yearly basis.
The event is well attended by students, families, and serious runners in the community who want to run a good race and help out the foundation. It is a way to get students and their families together for a good cause. October weather has been great for the event and we have a great turnout each year.
The event is run by the friends and families of the Conor McKenna Foundation and students who want to give back to their community by volunteering their time and services. The sponsors have been great supporters over the years and come back each year to donate and be part of this great event.
The Run for Courage 5K starts at 9 AM on the day of the event and the 1 mile walk also starts at 9 AM. The overall male and female winners, as well as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group, are awarded immediately after the event.
The Run for Courage is an event for families and serious runners. It is a great day to celebrate and raise funds in memory of a student at Spring-ford High School.
